ARTIST: GIAP VAN TUAN, BORN IN 1983 From Bac Giang, a suburb of Hanoi
The wide and narrow streets and corners of Hanoi’s Old Quarter have found their way into his works, representing a deep, enduring love that transforms over time. His pieces capture ancient houses and rows of buildings with tangled webs of electric wires and scattered trees whose branches sway in the seasonal breeze. Giáp Tuấn seems to repeat his themes, as though whispering to the colors, “I love my city.” … “I want to wear a magical coat that changes colors with each season: spring, summer, autumn, and winter.”
Thus, colors seem to intertwine and dance to the rhythm of nature, resulting in unique artworks born of his individual emotions.
